GoldenRod Fishing Charters, LLC. is owned and managed by Captain Jason Whitfield. Both Jason and his wife, Kim, are third generation members of families entrenched in the fishing industry. Jason grew up commercial fishing with his dad, Capt. Mike Whitfield, and Kim grew up fishing when she could on Captain Davis Queen Fleet headboats owned by her dad, Grover Davis, and his brothers, "Duck," and Joe Ed. We specialize in family-oriented fishing trips and we love to introduce kids to the sport of fishing. Our best memories are fishing adventures we shared with our son and his little buddies as they were growing up.

As things go now, Jason can be found at the helm of the 42' Sally D. If you call us, you will most likely speak directly to Jason. He loves running his new boat, not to mention soaking up the air conditioning as he sits in the air ride captain's chair. Kim helps out with reservations as needed and handles marketing and bookkeeping.

Along the way, Colby Clark, the token non-Floridian, was added to the team. He completes the GoldenRod family and works the deck on the Sally D, zipping around like the Road Runner. In all our years of fishing we have never seen a more efficient and energetic deckhand. He tops it off with great manners and personality.

Capt. Matthew Lewis began fishing with Kim and Jason at age 3 when he began his friendship with their son, Capt. Davis Whitfield. Over the last 21 years, his enthusiasm for fishing has landed Matthew on board most every Whitfield fishing trip, even the ones in the Pacific. Matthew ran our 27' Stuart charter boat for years and has proven to be an amazing young fisherman and steady captain. He now frequently fills in for Jason on the Sally D.

We use light tackle, which is easier for children to handle, and it intensifies and prolongs the action for adults and experienced anglers. Capt. Jason Whitfield has over 25 years of experience taking people fishing. He has spent countless days training Capt. Matthew Lewis, who now begins his fifth summer running a charter boat for us. When the time is right, these guys can target fish for amberjack, snapper, grouper, triggerfish, mackerel, sharks, and more. Let us impress you!
